Baked potatoes and PTSD on the docket at the Churdan library

The Churdan public library has two events planned in the coming weeks.

In celebration of the Irish heritage of the northern part of Greene County, the library will serve a baked potato bar and sandwich supper Sunday, March 15, from 5 to 7 pm at the Paton-Churdan school cafeteria.

The menu includes baked potatoes with a variety of toppings, loose meat sandwiches and hotdogs, relishes and bars. Carry-outs will be available, and for those who eat there, there will be St Patrick’s Day activities for all ages.

A free will donation will be accepted at the door.

A much different event is slated for Monday, March 23, as the library will show the documentary Terra Firma. The film is an intimate look at three women who enlisted in the military in themed 1990s to improve their lives and ended up as support soldiers in a battle zone. Each of them returned to civilian life with post traumatic stress disorder and eventually found healing through farming.

Terra Firma will be shown in the P-C school auditorium at 6:30 pm, with a question and answer time following. An informational display will be available starting at 5:30 pm. Refreshments will be served. There is no charge.
